The La Costa Canyon boys volleyball team, riding a four-match winning streak, will look to extend its recent stretch of victories with a busy schedule this week that starts with a Tuesday road contest against Mission Hills.

The LCC Mavericks pulled out a 3-2 win last Thursday on the road against Torrey Pines.

“As a team we are still working on bringing things together,” Mavericks’ head coach Mark Brubaker said. “Torrey was a tough match. We beat them in five sets but it was very close.”

Senior setter Kendall Partie continues to have a big impact for the team as a key leader. Partie, standing at 6-foot-4, played a limited role on the 2009 squad but has elevated his game this year.

LCC currently stands at 8-5, after wins last week over Escondido and Torrey Pines. The Grizzlies of Mission Hills were swept on the road last week at Torrey Pines but rebounded for a home sweep of their own against Fallbrook.
