The Scripps Ranch Falcons secured a 5-1 road victory at Mira Mesa in boys lacrosse action Wednesday. Despite the Marauders only facing a 2-1 deficit after the first quarter, the Falcons pulled away with three unanswered scores to reach the comfortable 5-1 result.

The Falcons, 7-3 overall this season, have now combined to outscore their opponents 18-2 in their last two contests, road wins over Mira Mesa and University City. On Friday afternoon, Scripps Ranch will host the Patriots of Patrick Henry HS, a squad also holding a 7-3 record in 2010 while being ranked just two spots below the Falcons in the San Diego region based on the LaxPower ratings. The Patriots saw their seven-game winning streak get snapped this past Saturday in a 14-8 loss to Great Oak.

Capped off with Wednesday’s 5-1 defeat, Mira Mesa has had a series of close losses. Before the game against the Falcons, the Marauders had been dealt road losses by scores of 6-5 and 6-3 against Cathedral Catholic and El Capitan. Mira Mesa, after seeing its two top scorers in Nick Kauler (26 goals) and Selassi Ward (15 goals) depart as seniors last year, has encountered some trouble on offense in 2010.
